You must specify the kind of equality you have in mind. Probably you're thinking of the kind of equality where everyone treats everyone with respect. That can never happen. There will always be people who don't deserve respect.
Equality can never exist where we are geographically and racially different. Even when there was no concept of wealth, there were people referred by the name of "black-Africans" and other different ethnic groups and cultures. Yes, sounds like communism, which doesn't work beyond a very tiny scale.
