One of the more useful things I've learned is how to process something, take what I need from it, and let it go. If I was wrong, I acknowledge it and try not to repeat that, but I let it go. The past is immutable and done, guilt is a form of masochism, and moving on is the only option.

People who would realize there was something wrong if they sat and watched the same sad movie every single day of their lives, nonetheless do the same thing in their head and never realize it.
