There has been some decent research that recognizes brain function changes when thinking about or focusing on religious phenomenon. And some evidence to suggest that hallucination or temporal lobe activity can prompt religious ideation. Interesting.

Anyways, religious-extremist remind me of the people that Morpheus was talking about in The Matrix: "Most of these people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it." That's how fanatic extremist are about their religious convictions. They don't want to be unplugged. As if that wasn't bad enough, these radicals will fight tooth and nail to ensure that no one escapes their "Matrix."
